Children and Youth Programs
The Waterloo Region Nordic Sports club is open to any one living in the Region of Waterloo. Those living outside the Region may obtain membership upon the approval of the club's board of directors.
Register online beginning September 19, 2011, using the secure Zone4 registration system. Payment can be made by cheque or credit card.

Financial Assistance
Kidsport Ontario: This program offers a granting process for registration and/or equipment costs that provides opportunities for disadvantaged children and youth to participate in organized sport and recreational activities. City of Waterloo Fee Assistance Leisure Access Program: The City of Waterloo provides financial support for low-income Waterloo residents, so that individuals can participate in City of Waterloo recreational and affiliated minor sports programs. Family Membership
For a family of 4 or more (minimum of 1 adult), $20 will be discounted off the total cost of programs selected.

Jack Rabbit Programs (ages 4 -12)
A youth-centred program developed by Cross Country Canada. It provides a positive, fun learning experience that develops skills while exploring the joys of nature and winter.
Fall Program
- starts in early October and ends in December
- involves outdoor games and activities
- held in Waterloo Park on Wednesday evenings (6:30-7:30p.m.)
Winter Program
- starts Sunday January 8th, 2012 for five weeks of ski instruction
- held in Bechtel Park (Waterloo) on Weeks 2, 3 & 4 and the Optimist Club north of Erbsville on Kressler Road for Weeks 1 & 5
- Wednesday evening (6:30-7:30 p.m.) and Sunday afternoon (1:30 to 3:15)
Costs (Fees include club membership)
- $45 for ages 4-6 (Bunny Rabbits) Winter only
- $75 for ages 6-12 (Jack Rabbits) Fall and Winter Program
- $55 for ages 6-12 (Jack Rabbits) Winter only

Magic Rabbits (ages 10-13)
A youth centered program for intermediate skiers only. It provides a fun environment, developing skills, fitness, outdoor appreciation, and an introduction to cross-country ski races.
Fall Program
- includes dryland games and ski specific activities
- starts Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Waterloo Park; finishes Sunday, December 18, 2011
- participants may join later than October 6, 2011
Winter Program
- includes games, ski specific activities and skill development
- occurs Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons
- includes trips to youth-friendly races at additional cost
Costs (Fees include club membership)
- $85 for fall and winter program
- $55 for winter program only

Junior Outers (ages 12-19)
The Junior Outers Program focuses on developing excellence and, in particular, to the individual's commitment and readiness. Skiers are eligible for benefits at the Southern Ontario Training Centre (SOTC) (www.hardwoodhills.ca/index.php?...southern-ontario-training-centr).
A limited selection of rental equipment is available for Junior Outer members.
- Junior A’s (ages 15-19) - Wednesday nights in the fall and once on weekends; twice weekly in the winter and local, provincial and nationally sanctioned weekend races.
- Junior B’s (ages 12-16) - Wednesday nights in the fall and winter and local/high school and some provincially sanctioned weekend races
- September through March – registrations ongoing until December 2011.
- challenging outdoor activities in a fun, group environment
- choose either a recreational or competitive focus, and participate in ski touring, racing and leadership
- led by qualified coaches
Fall Program
- involves hikes and ski training in Waterloo Park.
- Wednesday evening (6-7:30 pm) & Sunday afternoon (1-3 pm), as well as weekend events.
Winter Program
- meets at Bechtel Park and various southern Ontario ski locations.
- Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (6:00-7:30 p.m.) and weekend events
- Racing fees are extra.
